Global Leader in Standards for Healthcare Information Technology Interoperability, HL7 International, to Host Meeting in Madrid in May 2025

HL7 invites all interested individuals to join us for our May Working Group Meeting and FHIR Connectathon to network with healthcare and technology thought leaders, attend any of our 25 education sessions and participate in hands-on development and testing of HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®).

FHIR Connecathon

The FHIR Connecathon is a chance to get your hands dirty and learn by helping evolve the FHIR specification (lectures and presentations are not included).

Implementers and developers can gain experience developing FHIR-based solutions and exchange data with other FHIR interfaces. Participants select one of several tracks based on level of readiness and area of interest, and can engage in hands-on, heads down development and testing. There is an opportunity to work directly with other FHIR developers and senior members of the FHIR standards development team. Participants are expected to write some software intended to demonstrate FHIR connectivity.

Working Group Meeting

The Working Group Meeting portion of the event will convene over 35 HL7 work groups spanning a range of topics such as clinical decision support, FHIR, genomics, mobile health, patient engagement, and payer and provider exchange.  This event provides a chance to meet face-to-face to work on the standards as well as the opportunity to network with industry leaders from around the world.

This event will also feature 25 educational sessions on timely topics such as:

  • Firing Up the National Danish Healthcare Messaging Infrastructure with FHIR
  • Implementing Resource Cyber-trust Framework to Build Trust with Patients and Other Stakeholders
  • Leveraging the International Patient Summary (IPS) Standard for Population Health Management through Automated Extraction and Standardization of Clinical Concepts
  • Madrid Region Solutions, Primary and Secondary Use of Data
  • Toward a Minimal European Cancer Data Model: the IDE4RC Experience on Rare Cancer
